Overview

A family photoshoot in Rome should feel like time together, not a test of how many landmarks everyone can reach. We plan each private outdoor session around your children’s rhythm, the group’s mobility and the photographs that matter most to you.

Get everyone into the picture, including the person who usually takes the photographs. No posing experience is needed: Jeff or Sara guides the adults, keeps instructions simple for children and makes room for natural interaction.

Eidos Photography has worked in Rome since 2013. A responsible adult remains present and supervises children throughout the session; the photographer does not provide childcare.

Young children or a slower pace

Choose 60 minutes in one Garden or Local Districts area.

One classic Rome background

A focused 30-minute Colosseum session works with a short priority list.

Natural, everyday interaction

Spend 60 minutes in Monti, Trastevere or the Jewish Ghetto.

Older children who enjoy exploring

A 90-minute landmark route adds variety. Choose the 2.5-hour Grand option only if the walking and transfers suit everyone.

Grandparents or several generations

Keep the route compact and the number of transitions low.

Five or more participants

Message us first. We can recommend a duration and, if needed, a custom edited-photo total.

Single-parent families, adult siblings, grandparents with grandchildren and multi-household groups are welcome.

Plan Around Your Children

Children’s rhythm and natural moments

Tell us your children’s approximate ages, nap and meal times, and whether a quieter setting matters. We use simple walking, games and parent-child prompts instead of fixed poses. Feeding, comfort and nappy-change breaks are welcome but remain within the booked session time.

A child who needs time to settle may enjoy 60 minutes in one calm area more than a rushed 30 minutes at a busy landmark. Smiles are never required in every frame.

Your must-have family combinations

Share a short priority list: everyone together, each parent with the children, siblings, grandparents, or separate households. We photograph priority groups first, then candid moments. Parents-only portraits are possible when children have safe supervision.

Mobility, clothing and practical comfort

Rome has cobblestones, slopes, steps and uneven park paths. Tell us about a stroller or wheelchair, steps to avoid, shorter walks or nearby seating; practical needs are enough, with no medical explanation. We will confirm what the route and meeting point can accommodate.

Wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate layers; complementary colours work well, while matching outfits are optional. Bring water, a small non-messy snack and one light familiar toy. Eidos does not provide general props or styling; simple balloons may be arranged in advance at your cost when practical.

Outfit changes use session time, and outdoor changing facilities are not guaranteed. Hotel pickup is not included. Guests arrange and pay for longer transfers and any child-seat or stroller needs. Lateness reduces the photography time available.

Light that suits your family

Early morning: fewer crowds and cooler conditions; required for the Trevi route. If a 6:30 AM start disrupts a young child’s sleep, choose a later session elsewhere.
Golden hour and sunset: warm light in gardens, local streets and around the Colosseum. In summer, compare sunset with bedtime.
Blue hour: city lights for families comfortable with low light; optional, not the default for young children.

Light and crowds change with the season. The confirmed start time is set for your actual date, not a fixed clock time all year.

Where offered, add usable, non-duplicate unedited JPEGs alongside the edited set. Test, repeated and technically unusable images are excluded; this is not another edited gallery.

Short Cinematic Reel

An approximately 30-second mobile-shot video of walking, interaction and natural gestures, planned around the still photographs and delivered within one week.

Delivery

What Your Family Receives

The package or written confirmation states the total edited-photo count. The photographer selects images for expression, variety and technical quality.
High-resolution edited JPEGs arrive through a private online gallery, normally within 48 hours. Download and back up your files promptly.
The family gallery remains available for one year, as stated in your written Booking Confirmation.
Standard editing is natural and consistent. Major face or body alteration, object removal, background replacement and advanced compositing need separate agreement. Prints, albums and source camera files are not standard inclusions.

Booking

Confirm Your Family Session

Send the essentials. Share your date, full group size, children’s approximate ages, mobility needs, preferred route and must-have photographs.
Receive a recommendation. We confirm whether a route fits. For five or more participants, contact us so the duration and edited-photo total can be planned properly.
Reserve the date. Pay the required 20% booking payment or the full amount, accept the Terms and receive written confirmation. An enquiry alone does not reserve the session.

Changes, illness and weather

For a standard direct booking, cancelling at least 24 full hours ahead allows a full refund or one reschedule, subject to availability. Within 24 hours, amounts paid are non-refundable. If a child becomes ill, contact us immediately; we will reschedule when available, but if no suitable time exists, no refund is due. Platform bookings follow that platform’s rules.

If severe weather makes the session impossible to start or continue safely, direct-booking terms allow one reschedule or a full refund. Manageable cloud or light rain may permit a nearby route adjustment. Public spaces cannot promise empty backgrounds or uninterrupted access.

Your photographer and privacy

Jeff or Sara photographs the session. A named photographer is confirmed only when available and agreed in writing. Booking does not permit Eidos to publish identifiable family photographs; website, portfolio or social-media use needs separate, optional client and appropriate parent or guardian permission.

Family Photography FAQ

Which session is best with young children?

A 60-minute Garden or Local Districts session is an easy starting point: one compact setting with time to settle in.

Is 30 minutes enough?

Yes, for one landmark and a short priority list. For many family combinations, a child who needs time to warm up, or five or more people, contact us first.

Can we bring a baby or toddler?

Yes. Mention feeding, nap timing, stroller and carrying needs. This is an outdoor family session, not a posed-newborn or studio service.

What if our child is shy or does not want to pose?

Tell us what helps them feel comfortable. We use simple activities and parent-child interaction, not forced expressions.

Can grandparents or several households join?

Yes. Declare everyone who will be photographed. Groups of five or more should contact us for a suitable duration and edited-photo total.

Is the route suitable for a stroller or wheelchair?

That depends on the exact streets, slopes, steps and meeting point. Tell us what to avoid before booking so we can confirm the practical option.

Can we receive more photographs?

Additional Edited Photographs may be available at checkout or through a custom option. Get All Photos, where offered, is a separate set of usable unedited JPEGs.

What if our child is ill on the day?

Contact us immediately. Within 24 hours, we will reschedule if available; if no suitable time is available, amounts paid remain non-refundable.

Will our children’s photographs be published?

Only with separate, optional permission from the client and the appropriate parent or guardian. Declining does not affect the booking.

Can we request Jeff or Sara?

Yes. Tell us before booking. A named photographer is confirmed only when available and agreed in writing.
