A proposal in Rome should feel exciting, not like a logistics exercise. Eidos Photography helps you choose the setting, plan the cue and keep the moment yours—then photographs the answer and what happens next.

Choose a completely secret photographer, a surprise proposal within a known couple photoshoot, or relaxed engagement portraits after the question. Based in Rome since 2013; all couples are welcome.

Which Proposal Experience Fits?

One important distinction: does your partner know a photographer is present?

Secret Proposal

Your partner does not know the photographer is there. One agreed location; 60 minutes, 35 edited photos and an included short phone clip. We plan your exact cue discreetly.

Proposal During a Couple Photoshoot

Your partner knows about the photoshoot, but not the proposal. Choose a 30-minute to 2.5-hour route with 20–70 edited photos; we agree the proposal cue beforehand.

Engagement Portraits

The question has already been asked. Enjoy a private Rome couple session on a chosen route: 30 minutes to 2.5 hours and 20–70 edited photos.

Custom Experience

For guests, a private venue, decoration, a vintage car, multiple suppliers or a more complex timeline. We confirm the scope and inclusions in writing.

A discreet one-location booking: 60 minutes, 35 edited photographs and one 30–60-second unedited vertical phone clip.

Tell Us the Plan

Contact us at least 48 hours ahead. Share your date, a safe contact channel, a recent photo or outfit description, and your preferred setting.

Agree the Exact Cue

We set the walking approach, standing mark, signal and backup. The photographer usually arrives about 20 minutes early and stays discreet.

Ask—Then Celebrate

You keep the ring throughout; we do not carry it. We capture the proposal, reaction and nearby couple portraits within the booked hour.

Secret-proposal locations

Trevi Fountain: early morning only for this package.
Colosseum exterior viewpoint: dramatic ancient-Rome background.
Villa Borghese: greenery and a softer setting.
Another approved place: ask about the Aventine, Villa Doria Pamphili or a meaningful spot.

One agreed location is included. Empty backgrounds, exclusive access and uninterrupted public space cannot be guaranteed.

Routes are outdoor. Walking, transfers and outfit changes use booked time; transport, admissions, permits and private access are not included unless agreed. Photo totals cover the full session.

Plan the Moment and the Light

Keep the surprise safe

For a hidden photographer, use a contact method your partner will not see. Send a recent photo, clothing description and live location near the meeting point so we can identify you discreetly. Agree an exact cue and a backup if the spot is crowded or inaccessible.

Match place to time

Trevi secret proposals are early morning only. Gardens work in morning or around sunset when open; Colosseum and Castel Sant’Angelo may also suit sunset or blue hour by prior agreement. Start times change with the season.

Guests, suppliers and private venues

Guests are not part of the standard Secret Proposal package. Tell us in advance for a Custom Experience. Flowers, styling, a vintage car or other suppliers can be recommended when available, but you book and pay them directly. You arrange private-venue access and permissions.

Weather, mobility and travel

Share accessibility or walking needs before choosing the route. Rome has cobblestones and steps; longer transfers use the session time and your own transport budget. We agree a practical fallback for unsafe weather, but ordinary clouds or crowds do not guarantee a new date.

Media options

Photos, Video and Optional Extras

The standard Secret Proposal includes a phone clip; edited or professional video is a separate choice.

Included Phone Clip

Secret Proposal only: a 30–60-second unedited vertical smartphone clip of the key moment, alongside 35 edited photos.

Short Cinematic Reel

An approximately 30-second edited smartphone reel, delivered within one week. Request it ahead of the session.

Professional Videography

Professional camera, gimbal and microphone; normally an approximately one-minute film, delivered within up to two months. Confirm scope beforehand.

More Photographs

Ask for Additional Edited Photographs or, where offered, Get All Photos: usable non-duplicate unedited JPEGs. No RAW/source files or physical prints are included.

Your photographs

Delivery and Privacy

Edited photos: 35 for Secret Proposal; 20–70 for standard portrait routes depending on duration. The photographer selects the best usable variety.
Gallery: high-resolution edited JPEGs in a private online gallery, targeted within 48 hours. Back up downloaded files. One-year gallery access applies when included in the written Booking Confirmation.
Editing: natural standard retouching. Extensive object or body changes need a separate quote. RAW/source files and physical products are not standard inclusions.
Publication: your photographs are not automatically used on our website or social media; separate permission is required.

Booking

Reserve Your Rome Proposal

Share the essentials. Date, preferred place, whether the photographer must stay hidden, a safe contact channel, guests and any video request.
Confirm the plan. We check availability, location, light, cue and backup. For complex requests, we provide a written custom scope.
Secure the booking. Accept the Terms, pay the required 20% booking payment or full amount and receive written confirmation. The balance is due after the session, before delivery.

Cancellations and severe weather

For standard direct bookings, cancellation at least 24 full hours ahead permits a full refund or one reschedule, subject to availability. Within 24 hours, payments are non-refundable; travel disruptions and no-shows follow the same rule. If severe weather makes photography unsafe or impossible, direct-booking terms allow a reschedule or refund. Custom and platform bookings may differ.

Photographer and timing

Jeff or Sara photographs your session, subject to availability and written confirmation of a named photographer. Arrive on time: lateness reduces the booked time and the photographer normally waits up to 15 minutes.

Proposal Photography FAQ

Does my partner have to know?

No. Choose Secret Proposal for a hidden photographer. If your partner knows a couple shoot is happening but not about the question, choose a standard portrait route and tell us the cue.

How far ahead should I contact you?

At least 48 hours for a Secret Proposal; earlier is better for date, location and supplier choices.

Will you carry the ring?

No. The ring stays with you throughout.

Can family or friends join?

Yes, but guests need a Custom Experience rather than the standard Secret Proposal package. Tell us the number and timing before booking.

Can you guarantee an empty Trevi Fountain?

No. Trevi Secret Proposals are early morning only to improve conditions, but no public location can be reserved or guaranteed empty.

Is video included?

A short unedited vertical phone clip is included with Secret Proposal only. An edited Reel or professional video must be requested and agreed separately.

When will we receive the photos?

The target is 48 hours for the private gallery. Final timing and any one-year gallery availability should appear in your written Booking Confirmation.

Can we receive more images or RAW files?

Additional edited photographs or usable non-duplicate unedited JPEGs may be available. RAW/source camera files are not included.

What if it rains or we arrive late?

Unsafe weather follows the direct-booking reschedule/refund terms; manageable conditions may allow a nearby adjustment. Late arrival reduces the booked photography time.

Can I get a preview for our announcement?

A same-day announcement image is not a standard inclusion. Ask before booking if a specific early delivery is important.
